... Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston

"GIT UP!"  Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay) vs. Sonny Liston

This famous painting was painted and copywritten in 1991 by John Cain Connally, an African American born in McKinney, Texas, on August 3, 1945.  John grew up in Seattle, Washington and attended Garfield High School.

While at Garfield he sang with the elite Garfield choir, the Garfield Choraleers.  John was the sixth of eight children.

In 1968, after a 30 month tour of duty as a volunteer in the U S Army, having served honorably in Munich and Augsburg Germany, and while a sophomore at the University of Washington, he contracted exfoliative dermatitis, was hospitalized for a month and in recovery for 18 months.  It was during his miraculous recovery that he discovered that he had a hidden artistic talent.  This painting is a result of that discovery.  Upon full recovery John became brother John, a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It sells for $8 million US dollars, because THAT IS WHAT JOHN THINKS IT IS WORTH.
